Rwanda receives Covid-19 vaccines, kits from UAE

Rwanda has received a consignment of Covid-19 vaccines and medical kits from the United Arab Emirates government.

The kits that were received on Saturday, July 24, consisted Covid-19 vaccines, medical beds, personal protective equipment, coveralls and ventilators.

Commenting about the donation, Dr Daniel Ngamije, the Minister of Health said that the medical donation is expected to speed up the Covid-19 pandemic fight.

“This implies we are not alone in the fight, we have the support of partner states, and when they are adding up to what the government has done, it really speeds up the battle,” he said at Kigali International Airport while receiving the donation.

Hazza Mohammed Kharsan Al Qahtani, the UAE Ambassador to Rwanda reiterated that this donation is a symbol of good ties between his country and Rwanda.

“This is evidence that UAE stands with Rwanda, be it the administration or population side and during all sorts of situations, good or bad, we shall stand together,” he affirmed.

Our country is committed to work with Rwanda in the Covid-19 fight, and if God wishes, we shall make it, he continued.

“This is the second donation stressing our partnership to show solidarity to our brothers and sisters in Rwanda,” concluded the UAE envoy.

The donation is expected to be a major boost to Rwanda’s commitment to vaccinate at least 60 per cent of the population by the end of 2022.
