Rwanda, UAE to enhance cooperation in education
Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates are committed to enhance cooperation in the field of education in a way that benefit the two friendly countries.
On April 12, 2021, H.E. Ambassador Emmanuel Hategeka met with H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Minister of Education. Their exchange focused on enhancing cooperation among education providers, fostering Rwanda-UAE higher learning institutions partnerships through exchanges of faculty and students. Both sides also looked at strengthening Research and Development (R&D) through partnership with existing Centers of Excellence at the University of Rwanda and other Universities for improved research output and production like Joint Grant writing in identified priority areas. Another important point is potential collaboration on strengthening existing electronic research national data system with intelligent data platforms to support improved research in various areas.
“I had a fruitful meeting with H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Minister of Education. I took the opportunity to thank the UAE Government for the ongoing scholarships accorded to Rwandan students and discussed other areas to broaden the cooperation in Education. Thank you, Your Excellency, for the unwavering commitment to broaden the cooperation in education sector for the benefit of our countries and people,” Ambassador Emmanuel Hategeka said after the meeting.
H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi reiterated his commitment to bolstering cooperation in the Education sector.
Rwanda and the UAE enjoy excellent cooperation in education. There are currently 34 Rwandan students studying on scholarships in different universities in the UAE.
Ambassador Hategeka meeting with H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi came as a follow up to his meeting with the then Rwanda Minister of Education Eugene Mutimura in December 2019.
